Legatura inglese coeva in pieno vitello nocciola con roulette di motivi geometrici impresse a secco ai piatti, alternate a filetti impressi in oro e a freddo, titoli dorati al dorso a 6 nervi, con i comparti decorati con motivi floreali; cerniere ricostruite in pelle moderna. Tre diversi ex-libris applicati al contropiatto e alla sguardia anteriore: Alfred Braithwaite, Edward Bellamy, Jaco Calleri Damonte.
Edizione originale, in seconda tiratura, del primo e più bello dei libri pubblicati da Baskerville, rara e ricercata al pari della prima; cfr Gaskell 2. «Baskerville's first and perhaps his finest book is as complicated bibliographically as any that were to follow it from his press. Work on the original edition was in hand by the beginning of 1754, when the first specimens and proposal were issued [...]. There was a second edition, textually almost identical with the first, and also dated 1757 [...] it was intended to be a facsimile of the firs edition» (Gaskell p. 19).
