Il generale, già comandante in capo della V Armata americana durante la Liberazione, parla del suo libro di memorie “Calculated Risk”, accennando al Duke of Istria, alla Casa Savoia e in particolare al principe Umberto. Clark cerca di evitare ogni eventuale implicazione politica italiana. “[…] you asked that I elaborate some of the material in my book « Calculated Risk” with particular regard to Crown Prince Umberto. I must ask to be excused from attempting such an elaboration, for several reasons […] having possible political implications. Regardless of any personal feeling I might entertain, there would be an obvious impropriety in my becoming involved directly or indirectly. Sincerely Mark W. Clark”.
