First edition of the Geografia by Tolomeo, printed and corrected by Giovanni Antonio Magini. The 63 maps (27 of the ancient world and 36 of the new one) are engraved by Girolamo Porro for this edition. The world map entitled Orbis Terrae Compendiosa Descriptio is described as «an exceptionally fine engraving in its own right». Manca ad Adams; European Americana 596/79; Phillips 403; Sabin 66492: «A new edition, with new maps, and edited by Giovanni Antonio Magini of Padua [...]. The 64 copperplates maps prepared for this edition, and engraved by Girolamo Porro, are on a smaller scale, and somewhat better executed than those in the edition of 1562».
