Collection of about 145 letters, cards, autograph postcards (or with autograph signature) of Italian and foreign artists sent to the Association of Italian Artists of Florence.

Dated 1905-1909.
Black and blue ink manuscripts. Each paper is kept inside envelopes with the header 'Associazione degli Artisti Italiani / [...] / Firenze'. Only very few pieces are dated late 19th century. Various sizes. (145)

Interesting collection of unpublished documents that reveal an important insight into the artistic history of Florence and Italy at the beginning of the twentieth century. The papers are sent to Giovanni Hautmann, president of the Association of Italian Artists founded on May 7, 1905 along with some artists, members of the Academic College of Fine Arts in Florence. The headquarters were in Via de' Bardi 25, in Florence. Among the aims of the Association, the organization of an annual exhibition-sale for Italian and foreign artists. The Association was active from 1905 to 1913. Our papers relate to the first four exhibitions of the Association, from 1905 to 1909. Along with the letters, postcards and tickets - which information about the work in progress, the difficulties and successes of the artists - The collection also contains some forms of marking of works of art that were to participate in the exhibitions from which you learn about the organization, the regulation of the exhibitions and the works themselves (characteristics, size, etc.). Among the authors Giovanni Fattori, Angelo Dall'Oca Bianca, Niccolò Cannicci, Nomellini, Francesco Gioli, Luigi Nono, Giuseppe Cassioli, Ettore Tito, Mayer, Andreotti, Gatti, Filelfo Simi, Antonio Mancini, but also sculptors (such as Enrico Butti), decorators and artists in Milan, Trieste, Turin, Rome, Bologna. Many are also the names of foreign authors, especially Germans, Russians, French, Dutch and Spanish. Some of these artists today have their portrait preserved at the Uffizi Gallery.
