Rommel (1891-1944) Generalfeldmarschall, commander of Panzerdivision, nicknamed 'The Desert Fox', writes: '[... ] now the fight in France is over. It’s going very well. Nothing is missing. We have been calm since yesterday. On the other hand my headquarters in St.Valery, where 45,000 men had to surrender [...]'. Text written a few days after the surrender of French and British soldiers to the 7th Division led by Rommel at Saint Valery en Cauz.
